Current Activities:

I have just defended my Dissertation at the Computer Science Department, at Stony Brook University and since September 13nth, 2006 I'm officially Dr. Neophytou... I work as a research associate at the Center for Visual Computing under the guidance of my advisor prof. Klaus Mueller. My main research focuses on Scientific Visualization. More specifically, my dissertation work has been focused on GPU accelerated rendering of irregular volumetric data and the investigation of efficient grids for this purpose.

During the last year I have also been working with the Proteomics group of the Department of Applied Math and Statistics, under prof. Wei Zhu. My work at the proteomics group has focused on the development of Bio-Informatics tools. These include proteoExplorer, an environment for interactive visualization and analysis of mass sprectral data, and ViStaMS, a tool for the statistical analysis of genetic data from SAGE and MicroArray source. The latter project was funded by the Foster Foundation for the promotion of Osteo-Sarcoma research, and it is currently being used by the Osteosarcoma Research Laboratory at the Montefiore Children's Hospital at Bronx - New York.

For more detailed descriptions of my latest projects please refer to my Research page.
